No fireworks

Sorry, people.

For all those writing in wanting to know what happened with Mrs 9:30, the answer is... nothing.

After getting off the phone with Mary that afternoon she looked at my office website, and realized just who the male receptionist was.

She called back and cancelled the appointment, then went to a doctor-rating site and wrote a scathing review of me and the appointment that never happened. I suspect she broke her caps-lock key in the process.

Aw man! I was hoping for a lovely anecdote about how she apologized profusely for referring to you as the male receptionist.

I hope you gave yourself a good talking to and fired yourself or something like that. At least, you could probably rebut her that way.

You should post a reply to the effect that your time is valuable, and responsible adults show up for their appointments on time.

Not surprised. We had a special snowflake on Friday, called at 4:45 because her dog's UTI (which she is totally noncompliant about treating because she's into that holistic crap) is acting up again and DEMANDS to speak to the doc. Receptionist-well, we close in 15 minutes, but let me ask the doctor what we can do. Puts her on hold. She hangs up. Shows up at 4:57 with some schmutz on a paper towel. We offer antibiotics, she refused. Doesn't want to treat the dog without it being seen (regardless of it being after closing so she's S.O.L., she just has the soiled paper towel, no dog). Offered her a Monday appt, no good. She makes one for Tuesday. Then no-shows. I hope she fires us soon. I can handle the scathing review she'll write about us on yelp.

AWWWWWWWWWW!

I too am LMAO, but she probably realized her error and is as embarrassed as all get out about it, hence the caps keys.

Posting the review on your blog for our enjoyment would be an adequate substitute for a satisfying ending to that story.

Well not what I was hoping for after reading last week's post, but albeit a non-confrontatial wrap up.

Aw, dang. And I had my money on the possibility that she wouldn't recognize you-the-doctor as the male-receptionist. I was dearly hoping she would complain about you to your face.

Ahhh Doctor. Your life is just one big comedy routine. Thank you for sharing it with us. I know I can usually find at least a smile when I read your posts.
I hope Ms. 9:30 at least mentioned that she was 30 minutes late! I really hope you can respond to her comments.

Grumpy:

Sorry she was such an arse. I'm sure now that she's done with you she may just have to pull an Amy (of ABC) and say "hackers posted those ALL CAPS posts about Dr. Grumpy."

Good just to leave it at that. There's only room for one Amy in this world, and you certainly don't need your own.

If they allow a rebuttal, I'd definitely post something.

We want to read the review.

I know, you can't, but we wish you could.

OMG that happens to us except it involves children. Begs the question, Why did you come? You asked me, I answered, you didn't like my answer. Asking me again won't change my answer. You want some Red Beet Deep Root Extract? Wrong building.

Was taking my daughter to see our family doc last week, sitting in the waiting room. We arrived on time, but it's 20 minutes past our appointment time and we're still waiting.

Guy comes in and I overhear him arguing with the receptionist. He had an appointment at 1 PM which he was a no-show for. It's about 3 PM now and he wants to be seen, apparently oblivious to the waiting room full of people who were there for their appointments on time and are still waiting. Eventually a nurse comes out and politely but firmly tells him they have no one who can see him so late after his appointment and he needs to re-schedule.

It was that nurse who took us back for my daughter's appointment, and we chatted amicably about it while she took DD's blood pressure. She says she owns a bar in Chicago and she's thrown out guys much bigger than that, so they usually do drag her in when patients get loud and angry at the front desk. Made me chuckle.

I just do not get people who show up so late for their appointments then get pissy about not being seen. And you just know that these are the same people who get pissy when they show up on time and the doctor is running behind, when s/he is probably running behind in part because s/he was nice and took on a few late patients.
