Lego Scorpion

Last week my kids got some new Lego things, and put them together yesterday.

This is one of them.

It's about a foot long.

And in poor lighting, at 2:00 a.m., silhouetted against white carpeting, it can scare the crap out of you.

I learned this the hard way.

Active imaginations... really they're good for you! It's a species survival trait.

Just wait until you step on a misplaced piece (especially that tail part) in the middle of the night. Yep, done that on legos before.

Game over man, game over.

You have kids, and dogs, yet you have a white carpet?!

House came that way when we bought it.

Looks just like the thing that ate a dog in a commercial I saw last night... Watch out Grumpy!

HAHAHA! We have that same set, I feel your pain! Our entire upstairs looks like a Lego factory. I think my son and your kids would get along very well.

Are you white carpets really white? We have hardwood downstairs and we used to have white carpeting upstairs but now it's kinda....gray. It is gross. Not cleanable. Yuck! Cats and kids!

Well, you had better clean up that crap, Dr. Grumpy, because I am an inspector for the EPA, and I'm coming to inspect!! And that scorpion better not be harmed in any way!!
Please have your shorts available for inspection; and that carpet sounds like a violation too, mister.

There's nothing more painful than stepping on a Lego piece in the middle of the night; it's really difficult to not yell a forbidden obscenity when that happens. So..be glad you didn't step on it?

Dude, the new Legoland is opening not 30 minutes from my door. Let me tell you the frothing frenzy of excitement my offspring are in. The younger one is barely contained at the best of times, and now? He's about to shatter he's so psyched.

Their grandparents purchased annual passes for themselves and the grandchildren. They're winning "Favorite Adults EVER" award this year.

Nothing like crapping your pants at 02:00 after a good scare. Because that really is the best way to wake up.

Your kids are old enough, they might like Fischertechnik. Just a thought. They hurt just as much as lego when you step on them in the middle of the night, but at least it provides a little training for budding engineeres.

Well you were probably headed for the bathroom anyway, right?

That's a kor'kron annihilator, right?

Dads are supposed to be Big, Brave Adults who protect their kids against All Monsters and Other Things...and not be frightened by giant scorpions - so I hope you didn't yell too loud! Or are they old enough not to believe in Father Christmas any more?

So the little guy with the green visor, at left, is supposed to defeat the scorpion, huh? I'm betting on the scorpion.
