Parks for Vampires

It's Fall Break. So I knocked off early today to take the kids hiking, and drove to Intheforest State Park.

Most state parks here are open from 10:00 a.m. to dusk, but they change opening/closing times as the seasons change.

So when we got up to the park we were greeted by this sign:

Your tax dollars hard at work.

Time reversed? Are they breaking the laws of physics now? :)

How do you even respond to that one?

Hopefully our educational system taught the difference between a.m. and p.m., but then again ... that may be asking too much.

On a more frightening note, this person is probably legal to vote.

Morons. How hard is it to proof something before you click 'print'? (Or at the very least, read it over before you staple it in flourescent pink all over tarnation.) C'monnnn, people!

Maybe it's like a 24 hour restaurant that has to have parts of the kitchen closed for a little while daily for a thorough cleaning. Between like 8pm (sunset) and 10pm, they run out there and clean up all the trash, pick up the roadkill and re-open at 10pm.

I blame the Twilight (and other teen vampire bodice ripper books) phenomenon.

I like the sunset explanation.

....so there might be hope for me to meet Edward Cullen?

LOL @ Nurse K..."We've got to get this roadkill scraped off the area by 10 pm, people...I know that is only in a couple of hours, but such is life...that's when we re-open." It's like the restroom at the Wal Mart..."closed for cleaning...will open back up in 45 mins" :D

That would work in northern Canada in the summer time!

You should submit that to failblog. The sign made me laugh.

What so special about this definition of sunset, that doesn't happen at eventide or dusk, or when the pall of night falls?

Is there some endangered bat or owl species requiring special protective measures?

Presumably, if it's too dark to see properly, one might choose to use a flashlight.

This sign looks like an example of someone desperately trying to clear something up, however resulting in something baffling and ridiculous. Reminds me of the token souvenir from Cheyenne Frontier Days 30 years ago, a oven-dried and properly disinfected cow pie fashioned into a penholder, and embellished with a little chrome-plated inscription, 'If ya cain't dazzle 'em with brainy bits, baffle 'em with bull___' (or, something like that. I wouldn't have something like that in my house; things like that are best collected in photo albums or dim memories).

The sign hurts my brain in several ways. I'm going off to read another one of your funny posts so muh head doesn't hurt anymore. Although I should really be getting some work done. I'll come back somewhere between 10pm and sunset.
